Belgian ‘boarding’ tax
19 October 2021: In the past week, the Belgian government has been discussing a new 'boarding' tax on flights shorter than 500-750km as part of the annual budget agreement. However, the impact on airlines and passengers is still to be understood.
The tax will total no more than €20 on average. It is aimed to raise €30 million for Belgium by 2022.
This decision is not official yet and it is not clear when it will be implemented. Further discussions will take place in the coming weeks.
