Gilles Feith, Luxair Luxembourg Airlines
From June 2020 Gilles became Chief Executive Officer at Luxair and was tasked with the relaunch of the airline activities as all aircraft had been grounded since mid-March 2020. Founded in 1961, Luxair has been offering fast air service to most of Europe's largest cities, business centres and international hubs, since 1962. The airline stands for Safe and Clean travelling and prides itself upon providing quality travel both to its business clients and to its leisure customers.
First study on use of 100 per cent SAF
30 November 2021: ERA members Airbus and Rolls-Royce, alongside German research centre DLR and SAF producer Neste have teamed up to undertake the first in-flight use of pure SAF. The ECLIF 3 study marks the first time 100 per cent SAF has been measured simultaneously on both engines of a commercial passenger aircraft – an Airbus A350 aircraft powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines.

Prolongation of the state aid temporary framework
30 November 2021: The European Commission published on 18 November a communication on its competition policy that looks at the temporary state aid and antitrust frameworks and how it can effectively support the green and digital transition.
The Commission acknowledges that on one hand the pandemic showed that Europe benefits from robust resilience and innovative capabilities, and that competition policy must also be enforced.
New EC proposals on intra-EU and international travel
30 November 2021: 70 travel and tourism organisations, including ERA, have expressed their support to any effort – based on scientific evidence – to keep protecting and ensuring the freedom of movement and avoid a patchwork of diverging national measures within the EU/EEA as well as internationally.
