14 December 2021: A note prepared by the delegation of Cyprus on air connectivity was shared with other EU Member States delegations under 'Any other business' at the meeting of the Council (Transport, Telecommunications and Energy) on 9 December 2021.
Launch of the European sustainable aviation observatory by French Minister of transport
14 December 2021: The French Minister of Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, launched the Sustainable Aviation Observatory on 10 December whose objective is to work both on the effects of air transport on global warming and on the actions implemented at national, European and international levels to decarbonise the sector, with the help of actors and observers of the sector.
Despite the efforts of the actors of the sector to decarbonise their activities, public opinion has not yet fully become aware of the ongoing upheavals.

ERA drafts response to survey on COVID-19’s impact on aviation
15 December 2021: Consultancy Steer is supporting the European Commission (Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport - DG MOVE) by carrying out a study on the impact of the pandemic on the air transport industry.
The scope of the study is to examine both the past impacts of the pandemic (2019 up to now) as well as the impacts of the pandemic on the European air transport industry until 2030.
This study will allow the Commission to:
KLM further expands approach for Sustainable Aviation Fuel
From 10 January 2022, KLM will add sustainable aviation fuel to all flights departing from Amsterdam, and from 13 January, customers can choose to purchase an additional amount of sustainable fuel when booking. KLM has already signed agreements with various partners and SAF suppliers
