Publication of amended EU slot regulations
20 February 2021: On 20 February, a revised EU Regulation 95/93 (Slot Regulation) entered into force which covers the entire IATA Summer 21 season beginning on 28 March and up until and including 30 October 2021. In essence, the amendment includes a temporary adjustment to the ‘use it or lose it’ rule to accommodate the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The EU return date (ERD) is therefore 27 February 2021 to hand back the series for the Summer 2021 season.
De Havilland Canada’s Dash 8-400 Aircraft Meets ICAO’s Stringent Noise Emission Standards and Continues to Support Greener Aviation
As the aviation industry evolves toward more eco-friendly operations, De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (“De Havilland Canada”) is investing in emerging technologies and innovative thinking to support greener initiatives. One significant milestone was achieved when the Dash 8-400 turboprop became the first regional aircraft recertified to meet the most recent and stringent noise emission standards set by ICAO Chapter 14.

10 March 2021: The Commission published a report on the application of the Package Travel Directive on 1 March 2021. The report takes stock of the experience gained with the application of the Package Travel Directive since its entry into application in July 2018.
ERA Cargo Group
24 March 2021: ERA is looking at setting up a new working group to identify and address specific cargo issues affecting members. A kick-off meeting of the new group was held 8 March, in order for members to share their insight and together adopt a workplan for the group. Thank you to all those who participated.
Rolls-Royce and Tecnam join forces with Widerøe to deliver an all-electric passenger aircraft ready for service in 2026
Rolls-Royce and airframer Tecnam are joining forces with Widerøe – the largest regional airline in Scandinavia, to deliver an all-electric passenger aircraft for the commuter market, ready for revenue service in 2026. The project expands on the successful research programme between Rolls-Royce and Widerøe on sustainable aviation and the existing partnership between Rolls-Royce and Tecnam on powering the all-electric P-Volt aircraft.
Airbus first test flight with 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel
The study of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)’s impact on the full scope of aircraft emissions has been few and far between. An Airbus-led project is looking to change that by conducting a series of flight and ground tests aimed at shedding light on the emissions performance of 100% SAF.
On a chilly but pleasant March day, an A350 moved into position, revved its jet engines and took off from the runway at Blagnac airport in Toulouse, France. But this was no ordinary flight: the test aircraft was fuelled by 100% SAF.
