25 June 2024: As part of the Destination 2050 alliance, ERA is pushing for the establishment of an EU pact for sustainable and competitive aviation. In the past weeks, ERA, along with Destination 2050 partners, have exchanged with different DGs from the European Commission to discuss an EU Pact for aviation.

EC report on current trends and issues in EU transport
9 July 2024: The European Commission has released an overview of the latest developments in the EU transport sector, highlighting trends and issues for both the EU and individual Member States. For each country in the European Union, the report includes an overview of the strategic planning in terms of transport – though the development of the TEN-T networks and decisions linked to transport in the national Recovery and Resilience plan – the country specific recommendations and the national energy and climate plans.
EU leaders come up with a deal for top jobs
9 July 2024: During the last European Council meeting on the 27 June, EU leaders nominated Ursula von der Leyen as President of the European Commission for a second mandate, former Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa as President of the European Council, and Kaja Kallas as High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy.
Ursula von der Leyen and Kaja Kallas’ nominations will require approval from the European Parliament.
