Civil–Military Stakeholder Committee
14 October 2021: ERA attended the 5th Meeting of the Civil–Military Stakeholder Committee (CMSC) on 12 October. The CMSC is the standing committee of the EUROCONTROL Provision Council (PC) and is the reference platform for strategic, technical and operational civil-military ATM, CNS, Security and Safety coordination within the scope of EUROCONTROL.

ERA reacts to ECA report on EU261 implementation during crisis
27 July 2021: ERA has written to the President of the European Court of Auditors about its report on the protection of passengers’ rights under the COVID-19 crisis published at the end of June. The report has compounded concerns as it proposes an industry levy to cover bankruptcies and even more compulsion in the matter of passenger protection, without having had any regard to differences between airlines, such as regional and international carriers.
ITF report: Decarbonising Air Transport
31 August 2021: The International Transport Forum has published a report that provides an overview of government policies to decarbonise the air transport sector and also looks at technologies and operational improvements.
The report recommends to:
1. Integrate clear decarbonisation requirements into government support packages helping the sector recover from the CCOVID-19 crisis
Member feedback on future EU contingency plan
21 September 2021: The Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy (COM (2020) 789) envisages that the Commission will prepare a crisis contingency plan with the objective to ensure business continuity, and coordinate response measures in the transport sector based on lessons learned and initiatives taken since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alliance on Zero Emission Aviation
7 September 2021: The European Commission has launched a consultation on the industry Alliance Zero Emission Aviation.
From start-ups to large OEM, the entire aeronautics supply chain is developing innovative technologies to support the greening of aviation. Some of the solutions under development involve technologies such as hydrogen, battery-electric or hybrid propulsion not previously used in aircraft. The commercial use of such new aircraft types will require an important adaptation of the entire aviation ecosystem.
EUROCONTROL study on climate change risks for EU aviation
6 September 2021: Eurocontrol has published its study on climate change risks for European aviation on 6 September. The study was carried out by Egis and the UK Met Office on behalf of EUROCONTROL and assesses how existing weather trends have impacted aviation in the years. It forecasts growing disruption both on the ground and in the air.

Consultation on the Revision of the Package Travel Directive
7 September 2021: The Commission will, by 2022, carry out a deeper analysis into whether the current EU rules always achieve robust and comprehensive consumer protection.
ERA calls for an extended deadline for EES implementation
7 September 2021: The European aviation sector is supportive of these regulations and worked with the European Commission, the Council, the Parliament and the relevant authorities in the Member States, to contribute to their successful adoption. We expect that the EES will modernise the EU’s external border management, help combat terrorism and serious crime while guaranteeing the free movement of people within the Schengen space.
