DAT Flying CO2 neutral to and from Folkemødet 2018

The airline DAT has invested in 1,000,000 trees and thus CO2 neutralises more than 200 flights to and from Bornholm in connection with the Folkemødet (Folk Meeting). The initiative is part of a responsible future plan, and one of several targeted investments in CO2-reducing projects.

DAT is aware of the environmental impact that the transport sector is contributing to on a daily basis. The load from the aviation industry mainly consists of CO2 emissions in connection with the combustion of fossil fuels. It is a challenge, and DAT will be part of the solution.

Therefore, DAT has entered into a collaboration with Norwegian Bio8 AS and Thor Heyerdahl Climate Parks. The agreement, which has been drawn up over the last six months, consists of an investment in 1,000,000 mangrove trees in Myanmar, which ensures that 600 tonnes of CO2 is bound. This is equivalent to the total emissions of 100 per cent + 10 per cent, which the airline is responsible for in connection with air transport to and from the Folkemødet in Bornholm. DAT thus not only contributes to CO2 neutrality, but makes an active effort to protect the environment.

This means that all politically-committed Danes who fly from either Central Jutland, Billund, Aalborg or Copenhagen to the People's Meeting 2018 arrive in CO2-neutral aircraft.

The initiative is one of several targeted investments in CO2-reducing projects by the airline. The collaboration with Bio8 AS will be expanded in the coming years, and this is mainly due to the company's focus on projects that have a demonstrable and immediate reduction effect on greenhouse gas emissions.
