ERA Board meets with Magda Kopczyńska DG MOVE
On 27 March 2024 the ERA team and members of the Board met with DG MOVE’s Director-General Magda Kopczyńska, to highlight the importance of our sector in regional development and connectivity and to ensure that policymakers understand and take into account the unique business models our members operate, transporting both passengers and cargo.

Travel and tourism industry unites to tackle climate change
9 April 2024: Association representatives from the European travel and tourism sector (business and leisure) met in Rhodes, Greece, to sign a landmark declaration promising decisive action towards more sustainable travel and tourism.
The joint declaration will serve as a roadmap to foster collaboration and help tourism reach its sustainability goals. Today, more than ever, the industry is committing to prioritise decarbonisation, enhance collaboration, and engage with policymakers in meaningful dialogue.
RLCF event: ‘Fuelling change: how the EU is decarbonising seas and skies’
15 April 2024: The European Commission, the RLCF (Renewable and Low-Carbon Fuels Value Chain Industrial) Alliance Steering Group and the office of MEPs Bauza Dias and Marinescu organised an event on 10 April on how the EU is decarbonising the seas and the skies.

Belgian Presidency organises sustainable aviation conference
15 April 2024: The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union recently hosted an Aviation Conference on Europe’s Flight Plan to a Sustainable Future, which ERA particpated in. The meeting was very high level and gathered industry stakeholders and major institutional policymakers.

Marie-Louise Philippe has over 21 years of experience in the aviation industry with a rich international career, being based in France, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Netherlands. Philippe served in wide ranging commercial leadership roles at Airbus in procurement and customer affairs. She achieved substantial savings while managing various supplier portfolios and built a strong sales record with customers in Europe and Asia.
Joint European airline position on recent ADR developments
16 April 2024: Following the adoption by the European Parliament of its first reading position on the proposal to revise the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Directive, ERA, A4E and IATA have joined forces and shared with key Counsellors and Transport Attachés a joint policy paper urging the Member States to preserve the voluntary nature of ADR schemes and promote the development of specialised, high-quality ADR bodies.
TRAN Committee’s debate on passenger rights
16 April 2024: The European Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) debated the new passenger rights proposals on 9 April. Commission officials outlined three proposals to enhance passenger rights, with a focus on access to refunds in various scenarios. All three Rapporteurs welcomed the package’s proposals but recognised they were unlikely to be concluded in the current mandate.
