EU Council endorses postponement of ETIAS
24 October 2023: The European Council has endorsed the new timeline for the roll-out and interoperability of EU information systems that are used by Member States to fight crime, control borders and manage migration flows. According to the new roadmap, the delivery of the new IT architecture foresees that the Entry/Exit system (EES) will be ready to enter into operation in autumn 2024, with the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) then ready to enter into operation in spring 2025.
Maarten Koopmans, KLM Cityhopper
Maarten Koopmans has worked for KLM since 1998, after graduating with a Masters degree from the Delft University of Technology. He started in a two-year management trainee program and worked as an operational manager in jet engine maintenance afterwards. In 2003 he became director Airport Strategy. In 2006 he was appointed Head of Airport and Environmental Strategy within KLM. Two and a half years later he moved to Inflight Services to become Vice President Crew Planning & Assignment.

ERA response to European Commission survey on API
4 April 2023: ERA recently responded to the European Commission survey on API, raising the major concerns of the industry and our members regarding the new proposals from the Commission published in December 2022. The association has been working with IATA and A4E to prepare a joint industry paper and to organise a workshop with experts from DG HOME.
Political agreement reached on RED III
4 April 2023: The EU co-legislators have reached a provisional political agreement on the revision of the Renewable Energy Directive. The agreement raises the EU's binding renewable target for 2030 to a minimum of 42.5%, up from the current 32% target and almost doubling the existing share of renewable energy in the EU. Negotiators also agreed that the EU would aim to reach 45% of renewables by 2030.
EU proposal for a Directive on Green Claims
5 April 2023: The ‘Green Claims’ proposal aims to address greenwashing and stop the proliferation of public and private environmental labels to ensure that consumers receive trustworthy information about the environmental credentials of products and services. The proposal targets ‘green claims’ made by businesses that state or imply an environmental impact.
