UK consultation on passenger rights
4 February 2022: The UK’s Department for Transport published on the 31 January an open consultation 'Reforming aviation consumer policy: protecting air passenger rights'. The proposals include changes to compensation for delays and cancellations, mandatory alternative dispute resolution for all airlines and new rules to make air travel more accessible. Feedback is open until 27 March 2022 (11:45pm GMT).
HyImpulse consults on Northern Atlantic temporary airspace change
8 February 2022: HyImpulse Technology is a new German space company developing a small orbital launcher and sounding rockets, powered by green hybrid propulsion technology. Its first flight, SR75 will be a technology demonstrator. A consultation on a temporary airspace change facilitating the launch is open until 28 February.
Seven EU Member States call for more ambitious ReFuel
8 February 2022: Seven EU Member States; Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Sweden have sent a letter to the European Commission urging for more ambition. In particular, while the EC proposal sets EU-level requirements on SAF, the 7 Member States propose to allow countries to impose their own national blending obligations on top of the EU mandate. This would allow for more ambition.
EU DCC to be extended for another year
8 February 2022: The European Commission adopted on 3 February a proposal to extend the Digital COVID Certificate by a year, until 30 June 2023.
This adopted act is open for feedback for a minimum period of 8 weeks. All feedback received will be summarised by the European Commission and presented to the European Parliament and Council with the aim of feeding into the legislative debate.
