SATA Air Açores

SATA Air Açores is a regional air carrier operating inter-island services within the Azorean Archipelago and its nine islands. Established in 1941, and flying since 1947, the airline celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2021.

The regional airline operates around 15,000 inter-island flights per year. As a result of the pandemic, 2020 was a challenging year for the regional airline, facing an unprecedented passenger decrease. Nevertheless, after the first semester of 2021, SATA Air Açores experienced a remarkable recovery, transporting more passengers in 2022 than ever.

Besides regular inter-island flights, the air carrier also operates regular wet-lease flights on behalf of the other airline of the Group (SATA Internacional – Azores Airlines) between the Azores and Madeira Archipelago. Some ad-hoc charter flight activity and other aviation support business units are also part of the group, such as ground handling units in nine islands and airport management units in five islands.
