Flughafen Dortmund
Dortmund Airport is located in the heart of the Ruhr metropolitan region and offers travellers connections to some 30 destinations in 15 European countries. Centrally situated with excellent traffic connections, the airport has enjoyed growing popularity for years among both leisure and business travellers. Almost two million passengers used the airport in 2016, making Dortmund Airport the third-largest airport in North Rhine-Westphalia, after Düsseldorf and Cologne-Bonn. Among the city connections throughout Europe, Dortmund Airport is the ‘gateway to the east’, offering an extensive range of flights to numerous destinations in Central and Eastern Europe. Almost half of the flights connect with emerging countries in Europe’s eastern regions. According to airline passenger surveys, approximately 80 per cent of passengers come from within a radius of 100 kilometres, many even travelling from the Netherlands. Its proximity, low prices and fast connections to attractive destinations are regularly stated as the most important reasons for choosing to fly from Dortmund Airport.
