Cranfield University has been at the forefront of aerospace research and teaching for nearly 80 years. A wholly postgraduate university that owns and operates an airport, aircraft and ANSP, Cranfield supports the global aerospace industry through its activities in aerospace engineering, air transport management, airport planning and management, aviation safety and human factors. These include master’s and doctoral degree programmes, professional development short courses, bespoke courses and research/consultancy. Clients include airlines, airports, government agencies and manufacturers. In 2021, Cranfield introduced a Saab 340B+ aircraft as a flying classroom and laboratory to support aerospace and aviation teaching and research for over 20 UK universities and opened the £67m Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC). In 2024 Cranfield announced the development of the Cranfield Hydrogen Integration Incubator (CH2i); with £69m of investment to demonstrate the potential of hydrogen as a net zero aviation fuel.
