EUROCONTROL launches FlyingGreen platform
19 July 2024: EUROCONTROL has launched a platform called FlyingGreen with the aim of helping inform businesses on decarbonisation strategies and climate change resilience. FlyingGreen is a key priority of EUROCONTROL’s corporate programme Raising the Bar: EUROCONTROL 2030.
The first release of the platform offers users a brand-mew emissions forecasting toolkit, a green energy transition tool, a climate risk pre-screening tool and a fund pathfinder including guidance on the EU’s sustainable financing regulations called Bluebook.
The Bluebook is a comprehensive guide to regulatory compliance in aviation sustainability. This resource aims to assist aviation stakeholders in understanding and adhering to the EU’s sustainable financing regulations, specifically the EU Taxonomy and the Corporate Social Responsibility Reporting Directive (CSRD). The Bluebook was developed in collaboration with representatives from the aviation sector.
The platform and the Bluebook will undergo continuous improvement. Collaborating closely with over 100 stakeholders, EUROCONTROL will keep enhancing the platform in the coming months, adding new functionality to aid aviation stakeholders in transitioning to a more sustainable future. FlyingGreen will feature a library of best practices and case studies to inspire and guide organisations in adopting sustainable practices. Users can learn from successful industry initiatives, access resources like guidance on conducting comprehensive climate risk assessments and stay informed about the latest advances in sustainable aviation. Additionally, discussions are ongoing about how the platform could facilitate collaboration among aviation stakeholders, fostering a community committed to sustainability.
