ERA drafts response to survey on COVID-19’s impact on aviation
15 December 2021: Consultancy Steer is supporting the European Commission (Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport - DG MOVE) by carrying out a study on the impact of the pandemic on the air transport industry.
The scope of the study is to examine both the past impacts of the pandemic (2019 up to now) as well as the impacts of the pandemic on the European air transport industry until 2030.
This study will allow the Commission to:
- Identify and evaluate structural changes in the EU aviation ecosystem triggered, influenced or accelerated by the COVID-19 crisis; and
- Understand how these changes interact with the principles and objectives of the Smart and Sustainable Mobility Strategy and the existing aviation internal market legal framework.
To this end, they are consulting a wide range of stakeholders from across Europe including airports, airlines, ground handlers, staff representatives, national authorities and Member States, slot co-ordinators, freight forwarders, representatives of passengers, travel industry, etc.
The survey questions can be found here.
The European Commission (DG MOVE) agreed to extend the deadline for responding to the Steer questionnaire on the impact of COVID-19 on our sector from 28 December to 17 January 17. ERA together with other aviation associations in Brussels emphasised the significant challenge compiling relevant information for our members in this period represents, given in addition all the new restrictions ahead of the holidays.
