Launch of the Multimodal Passenger Mobility Forum (MPMF)
8 March 2022: ERA participated on 23 February, together with Member States representatives, local and regional authorities, civil society organisations, transport operators (aviation, rail, public transport, micromobility, bus and coach, taxis, on-demand) as well as consumer and passenger organisations and mobility solution providers, at the kick-off meeting of the Multimodal Passenger Mobility Forum.
The long-term mission of the MPMF is to help the European Commission to "address the different barriers to multimodality and transform the transport sector into a truly integrated and seamless multimodal system of sustainable and smart mobility services". The objective is to draft a report identifying different policy options to be shared with the EC and Member States by mid-July 2022.
The MPMF is part of the strategy on Smart and Sustainable Mobility and complements other EC initiatives as illustrated in the slide below:
The MDMS proposal (new legal basis) should focus on ticketing/booking/payment services (intermediaries).
The presentation from the meeting is attached for members only.
ERA will follow the work of the MPMF, inform its members in due time, and contribute to the debates. It will also liaise with other associations such as EU Travel Tech and ECTAA to make sure the regional aviation segment specificities are considered, and that the Multimodal initiatives bring our members new business opportunities and areas of cooperation. Passenger rights, price transparency and CRS Code of conduct will be among the issues covered.
The second workshop will take place on 4 April 2022.
