Groningen Airport Eelde
Serving the northern half of the Netherlands, located 200km north of Amsterdam, Groningen Airport Eelde has an autonomous core catchment area which is home to two million people. The airport is situated within a stone’s throw of the most innovative and safest city in the Netherlands: Groningen (230,000 inhabitants). With its 55,000 students, of which 6,000 are foreign, Groningen is a lively, young and international city. Key industries in the region are shipping, (renewable) energy, agribusiness, life sciences and health.
In 2022 GRQ is served by Corendon, TUI, Transavia and Blue Islands offering services to Greece, Spain, Sweden, Guernsey and Turkey. Groningen Airport Eelde is the home of the KLM Flight Academy, Cirrus Sales & Service and the University Medical Hospital helicopter operations. With its 2,500m runway (Cat 4e) and facilities GRQ is fully equipped to handle a wide range of aircraft (up to Code E) to serve both the passenger and air freight market. With its 22MW airside solar park and located in the heart of Europe’s first Hydrogen Valley, GRQ is a frontrunner in the field of sustainability and innovation and is currently working on the Hydrogen Valley Airport concept; a full-scale green hydrogen infrastructure – from production to usage – at the airport’s premises.
