Groningen Airport Eelde (GRQ) located 200km north of Amsterdam, is non-slot restricted and offers growth potential in the Dutch market. Its core catchment area includes 2 million people, the broader 90-minute radius encompassing 4 million. The region is home to 932,000 workers across 213,000 businesses in industries such as (renewable) energy, shipbuilding, chemicals and agrifood. Additionally, 130,000 students, including 16,000 internationals, enhance the region’s talent pool and urban vitality.

GRQ currently handles around 120,000 passengers annually. Three ERA members operate GRQ in 2025: SKY express (Heraklion), Emerald Airlines (Knock Ireland West) and Blue Islands (Guernsey). Popular routes include Antalya, Gazipasa, Crete, Kos, Mallorca and Gran Canaria, served mainly by TUI and Corendon. Before COVID-19, GRQ offered twice-daily flights to London, Copenhagen and Munich, achieving 40 per cent higher passenger volumes. These routes remain highly sought after.

GRQ is actively advancing sustainability with a 22MW solar park, stimulating electric aviation and the development of a green hydrogen infrastructure.”
