Finnish Government calls for balance on passengers rights
6 February 2024: In a Union communication presented to the European Parliament on 1 February, the Finnish Government has welcomed the objectives of the Commission's proposal and generally supports strengthening and harmonising the implementation of passenger rights. However, the balance between the obligations of transport operators and the rights of passengers must be ensured. The Government stresses that for enforcement to be effective, regulations must be of high quality and easy to understand.
The proposal will now undergo parliamentary consideration and discussion within the Council of the European Union working group, with Finland actively participating in the process.
