This year’s senior leadership session will open with a keynote address from Luis Rodrigues, President of SATA Group (including ERA member SATA Air Açores, Azores Airlines and Aerodromes Management) and will be followed by a panel discussion on the evolution of aviation. 
 
The influence of the pandemic continues to be felt across Europe with summer operations still impacted, and a stretched workforce struggling to cope with consumer demand to travel again. Our fragile industry continues its efforts to recover whilst focussing on the future and overcoming major challenges, including reaching sustainability targets by 2050, coping with debt recovery, the possibility of short-haul route reduction, additional regulatory burden, competition challenges and the impact of the war in Ukraine, to name but a few. This session will provide stimulating, motivational and impactful conversations between airline CEOs and will be chaired and led by Patrick Edmond, Shannon Group and ERA Board member.

ERA is proud to present Karina Hollekim as this year’s inspirational speaker.

Karina was one of the world’s best extreme sports athletes but in 2006, she miraculously cheated death in a near-fatal accident. Doctors predicted she would never walk again but she was determined to prove them wrong and came back a winner. 

What makes the difference between those who succeed and those who fail? Why do some choose to quit while others come back even stronger when facing adversity? Karina shares her story about the moments that change our lives forever, about raw willpower and passion. She inspires us to be targeted. Karina is living proof of the importance of small changes and how they make a difference in the long run. By raising awareness of our choices, she challenges our willingness to change. She shows the importance of stretching beyond our comfort zones to achieve our goals. 

Karina’s incredible journey of struggle and resilience together with her indomitable spirit makes for an unforgettable story. She will share how she chose her own path and explored it – whether to the tops of mountains or simply within herself. Her extraordinary journey will dare attendees to dream again – and inspire them to go out and chase those dreams.
