Overview
The European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) (acting as the representative for the International Civil Aviation Organisation ICAO) has a standing Security Group that meets two times a year.
It is Chaired by a member ECAC state and is composed of state security representatives from all ECAC states and European trade associations concerned with aviation security. The USA and Israel are also invited to participate.
Background Information
Security policy by ECAC is not mandatory, however recommendations are made to Director’s General Civil Aviation for inclusion in state security programmes and are promulgated by ECAC Document 30 (to ICAO Annex 17 of the Chicago Convention).
ERA’s Current Position
ERA continues to monitor and attend ECAC’s security working groups if agenda items of interest to ERA members are promulgated
