EC public consultation on 2014 Aviation Guidelines

6 January 2025: The European Commission (DG COMP) recently launched a public consultation on a proposed targeted revision of the 2014 Guidelines on State aid to airports and airlines. The initiative aims to revise the guidelines on state aid in the aviation sector and align them with the objectives of the Green Deal, while preserving connectivity and supporting competition in the aviation sector.

The consultation is structured as follows:

1. General – Importance of Regional Airports (1/6)
2. Operating aid to regional airports (2/6)
3. Investment aid to airports (3/6)
4. Start-up aid to airlines (4/6)
5. Greening of aviation (5/6)
6. Other points (6/6) including lessons learned from the COVID-19 crisis, measures for freight transport, definition of ‘catchment area’.

The deadline for feedback is 5 March 2025.
