23 countries sign the International Aviation Climate Ambition Coalition

11 November 2021: Representatives from 23 countries launched the International Aviation Climate Ambition Coalition at COP26 on 10 November. Acknowledging the impact of COVID-19 on the sector and the need to develop initiatives that will enable the decarbonisation of the sector, they have committed to work together on the CO2 reductions of the air transport sector.

They have additionally declared that they:

  • Acknowledge that ICAO is the appropriate forum to address emissions from the aviation sector and support the adoption of a long-term aspirational goal by ICAO.
  • Will ensure the maximum effectiveness of CORSIA.
  • Will promote the development and deployment of SAF and of low-carbon technologies
  • Will prepare state action plans to reduce emissions nationally.
