Martin Alder is a senior researcher at SEO Amsterdam Economics. He has more than a decade of experience with applied economics research in transport and urban economics. Martin specializes in aviation, calculations of optimal investments in infrastructure and services, external cost assessment, abatement strategies and sustainability measures. He has worked for the public and private sector on topics of mobility and urban renewal in the local, national and international context. At SEO Amsterdam Economics, he is the principal researcher on the topics of Fit for 55 and Destination 2050. Further, he has provided research and expert advice to the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Federal Statistical Office Switzerland, the Dutch Interior Ministry, the South Korean Ministry of Transportation, Rijkswaterstaat and private enterprises such as KLM, Lufthansa, Dropbox, Nissan, and Airbnb. Martin has a PhD in economics from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the Tinbergen Institute. He regularly publishes in peer reviewed scientific journals and contributes to the public debate through newspaper articles and podcasts. Martin has been awarded for his scientific contributions by the German Forum of Regional Science and Economics and the International Transport Economics Association.
