PositionMEP
Josianne Cutajar is the youngest Member to ever represent the Maltese Islands in the European Parliament. As a member of the Committee for Industry, Research and Energy, as well as the Committee for Transport and Tourism and that for Regional Development, she strongly advocates for effective regional cohesion through transport connectivity. In her work at the European Parliament, she has promoted the digitalization of the transport sector, calling for improved data collection and exchange, the development of Intelligent Transport Systems and effective applications of Artificial Intelligence solutions to transport.
During the pandemic, MEP Cutajar has been continuously campaigning for the recovery of the sector, promoting further relaxation of state aid rules and financial support to SMEs in the sector. She has been outspoken on the need to support regional airports and airlines to avoid insolvencies that could result in loss of connectivity and other serious repercussions, with dire consequences for various regions, workers and entrepreneurs.
