Around the city a few fragments of the Berlin Wall still stand, to remind visitors and citizens of the once divided city. The Berlin Wall memorial is located in the middle of the city at the former border strip and extends 1.4km. The memorial contains the last piece of the fully standing Berlin Wall with the preserved grounds behind it enabling visitors to see how the wall would have looked.
