EC consults on Passenger Name Records Directive
13 November 2024: The European Commission is preparing a public consultation on the Passenger Name Records (PNR) Directive to check the efficiency and effectiveness of the instrument as well as its coherence with certain EU legislative acts that have been adopted in recent years.
The public consultation on the evaluation of the PNR Directive is currently in preparation. This Directive plays a role in preventing, detecting, investigating and prosecuting terrorism and serious crime. The consultation aims to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the Directive, as well as its alignment with other EU legislative measures adopted in this area. Additionally, the evaluation will offer a thorough review of how Member States are implementing the PNR Directive’s provisions. The Public Consultation is scheduled for the end of 2025.
