Alexander began his career in 1998 as a lawyer before pursuing his passion for aviation by joining Lufthansa’s Fuel Purchasing department in 2001. In 2004, he became Director of DLH Fuel Company, Lufthansa’s in-house fuel company.

He later moved to Shell Aviation, where he oversaw airport operations across western and central Europe and held director roles in several airport fuelling companies and joint ventures.

From 2011, Küper served as Managing Director of AFS Aviation Fuel Services, one of Europe’s leading fuel service providers. In 2020, he joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as Director Fuel, where he led global fuel initiatives, including the industry’s ramp-up of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

In early 2023, Küper joined Neste, the world’s largest SAF producer, as Vice President EMEA for Renewable Aviation, and was promoted to global Vice President of Renewable Aviation in 2024, a position he held until mid-2025.

With over two decades of experience in aviation fuel and SAF, Küper is now establishing his own consultancy to support airlines in navigating the complexities of fuel strategy, SAF supply and regulatory compliance.

A German national born in Colombia, Alexander holds a Master’s degree in European Law and studied in Mainz and London. He is married and has one son.
