DAT Flying CO2 neutral to and from Folkemødet 2018
The airline DAT has invested in 1,000,000 trees and thus CO2 neutralises more than 200 flights to and from Bornholm in connection with the Folkemødet (Folk Meeting). The initiative is part of a responsible future plan, and one of several targeted investments in CO2-reducing projects.
DAT is aware of the environmental impact that the transport sector is contributing to on a daily basis. The load from the aviation industry mainly consists of CO2 emissions in connection with the combustion of fossil fuels. It is a challenge, and DAT will be part of the solution.

Orkney islands could get first electric plane service
The air service which includes the shortest scheduled flight in the world could start to use electric-powered planes within three years.
Loganair's Orkney island hopping air service is famous for the 1.7 mile jump between Westray and Papa Westray. The airline is working with experts in the hope of making the electric service a reality by 2021.
Loganair said the Islander aircraft it uses could be modified rather than developing a model from scratch.
Corsia
In 2016, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) adopted CORSIA, a global carbon offsetting scheme to address CO2 emissions from international aviation. The agreement at ICAO demonstrates that the aviation industry is determined to live up to its climate change commitments and play its part in meeting international goals for greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
EU ETS
The EU emissions trading system (EU ETS) is a cornerstone of the EU's policy to combat climate change and its key tool for reducing greenhouse gas emissions cost-effectively. It is the world's first major carbon market and remains the biggest one. Since 2012, the EU emissions trading system (ETS) applies to flights to and from airports in the European Economic Area (EEA).
CORSIA vs EU ETS
In February 2017, the European Commission (EC) made a proposal for the revision of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) prolonging the existing temporary limited scope of the scheme that applies to flights within the European Economic Area (EEA) only.
Carbon Offsetting
What is it?
Carbon offsetting allows a company to compensate for its emissions by financing a reduction in emissions elsewhere. While carbon offsetting does not require companies to reduce their emissions “in-house”, it provides an environmentally effective option for sectors where the potential for further emissions reductions is limited.
Embraer developing electric aircraft
Embraer unveiled today, on the eve of its 50th anniversary, images of its demonstrator aircraft with 100 per cent electric propulsion technology, which is currently under development. The prototype has a special paint scheme and is ready to receive systems and components.
The aircraft's electric motor and controller are being manufactured by WEG at the company's headquarters in Jaraguá do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil, as part of the scientific and technological co-operation agreement for joint development of electrification technologies.
