As of January 2018, Valter was appointed Managing Director of Portugália Airlines. His career in Aviation began in 2001 when he joined TAP – Portugal as a Project Manager with his main responsibility being focused on Heavy Checks performed on customer aircraft at TAP M&E Lisbon facilities.
In 2005 he was offered the position as Aircraft Base Maintenance General Manager, he was the head of Airframe Base Maintenance Hangars and Back-Shops; “A” and “C” Checks for both TAP fleet and Customer Aircraft. Having had the opportunity and good fortune of all the experience and knowledge obtained from his time at TAP Portugal, in January 2009 he joined TAP M&E Brazil as a Strategy Consultant for Brazil Operation. His mission was to redesign the organization in top down approach, lead and implement full restructure in Brazil MRO Airframe business unit. He also managed to apply European best practices across operations, implement and standardize procedures to TAP M&E Portugal policies.
By 2010 to 2016, he was nominated the Executive Vice President of Operations for TAP M&E Brazil. During this time he was Head of MRO Operations in Airframe (Boeing, Airbus, Embraer and ATR), Components (Avionics, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, Interiors and Landing Gears) and Engines (Pratt & Whitney), Maintenance in Brazil, having also been involved in Engineering, Planning Departments and Direct Manpower as well as the responsibility for 50+ domestic and international customers and 1500+ direct employees. He has also had several opportunities to be a public speaker at global aviation conferences and events.
