European Commission to examine ATCO working issues

The European Commission Directorate General for Mobility and Transport, has published a call for a study on Air Traffic Controller (ATCO) and Engineering Staff (ATSEP) social issues and working conditions.

The purpose of this contract is to carry out a comprehensive, facts and figures-based study to analyse where the problems lie, and present the existing working conditions and social issues, including future possible scenarios, in relation to ATCOs and ATSEPs employed by ANSPs in EU member states.

The study will highlight the current situation for the ATM sector, the issues ATCOs are facing and how this will change in the next 15 years or more, given also the age pyramid, recruitment requirements, training, automation and evolving skills required for ATM personnel. The study will include several in-depth case studies on the present situation in a number of EU member states. Relevant trade unions and professional staff organisations will be involved in the study.

The results of this study will feed in the reflections on the human dimension of the Single European Sky reform.

Economic operators interested in this contract are invited to submit a tender in one of the official languages of the European Union. The deadline for receipt of tenders is 25/06/2019.
