MANAGER POLICY & TECHINICAL

ERA seeks to appoint a Manager Policy & Technical to initiate, develop and implement ERA policy as part of the ERA team as either a full time employee or on secondment from an ERA member. 

The post holder must be highly motivated, articulate and energetic. They should be prepared to lead discussions on policy making covering a variety of strategic and technical issues affecting ERA’s members as part of the Policy & Technical team. The post holder must be able to construct reasoned and logical arguments to develop and defend ERA positions before senior decisions makers, regulators and industry experts, but will also recognise the need for diplomacy and compromise where called for. The post holder will share their activities within the Policy & Technical team with a particular focus on technical, infrastructure and operational matters.

A background in the airline industry and a keen interest in the commercial, technical and strategic challenges facing the airline industry in Europe are essential. Knowledge of European regulatory processes is essential. Experience of working within an airline in an operational capacity is essential. This role may suit someone who has either a pilot or aeronautical engineering background or experience of flight/crew planning.

A high level of self-motivation and proactivity is required for the role to allow delivery of benefits to ERA's membership with limited supervision. Excellent spoken, written and presentation skills in English are essential and the post holder must be fully computer-literate. Literacy in other European languages is helpful. The role is a full time office based one located at the ERA offices in the UK and involves extensive presence in Brussels as well as regular travel within Europe with overnight stays.

This role is part of a small team of 3 people (2 other managers and the post holder) within an overall office staff of 13.
