EU likely to review Airport Charges Directive

ERA, along with other airline associations, attended a meeting in Brussels on 25 April to discuss a joint approach regarding the requirement for the European Commission (EC) to revise the Airport Charges Directive (ACD).

Airport charges transparency is a topic that ERA has been lobbying on for several years through its work on the EU Airport Charge Directive.  The Directive is now being assessed by the European Commission (EC) with a view to a possible review.  ERA, along with a number of other airline associations, is involved in this process. A joint association presentation has been compiled with some key principles built around ensuring greater control charges by airports with significant market power. Consultants Steer Davies Gleave are working with the EC to produce a report on possible modifications to the Directive. The associations will present to the European Commission on 17 June as part of the consultation process.  Any members interested in learning more and/or contributing to this work should contact Christopher.mason@eraa.org
